Yoga is mainly looked upon as a set of techniques useful for achieving fitness in daily life and prevention and cure of some specific diseases or disorders. Throughout its history, yoga seems to have undergone changes regarding the purpose for which it was practiced.


Literary Research
My literary research revealed to me that Yoga is originally an Indian concept that was propounded by the ancient Indian sage Patanjali and is derived from the Sanskrit word 'Yog' which means union presumably union with the divine being or God. It is a 5000 years old scientific technique for spiritual development. It sooths agitated senses and fills one with a sense of well being, and at the most, helps to attain nirvana or moksha, the ultimate unification of the mind, body, and soul with the entire universe.

Types of yoga
There are different types of Yogic technique through which you can achieve eternity. Some of the well known Yogic technique are Karma Yoga, Bhakti yoga, Janana Yoga and Hatha yoga and Raja Yoga.

Philosophy of Yoga
According to Yogic philosophy, we all are free at the deepest level of existence on this earth. This is not an every day experience. The yogic practice can actually help us discover an innate freedom. The process involves self purification and cleansing of mind.
