Living for last 2 years, Natalie, my cousin had made many Bengal friends. They all hailed from different region of West Bengal yet carried a similar ethos. Some of them even belonged to different caste but when they sit together nobody can make out who amongst them is Christians, Hindu or Muslim.

Since I was there for the first time, one of Natalie friends, Suvam called me for lunch party. It was literally a pleasure for me as I was able to come close to the culture that prevailed in the region.

My lunch had fish, rice and mixed veg. All of the dish were well prepared keeping in mind the taste I will like to have. After having a good meal, I was offered a white spongy dish that was very sweet to eat. "This is Rasgulla" said Suvam. Then I was offered Misthi Doi and Sandesh too. Now all these were quite sugary and very very tasty.

Initially, my perception about Bengali was that they are quite snobbish but today I can proclaim that they are the best host I have ever seen. They are very enthusiastic and warm people with a good heart.

Since it was a get together, I came to know some other friends of Natalie. Soma, Sumana, Indrashish and many others who made the party all the more jovial by singing and dancing.

Taking a microscopic view, I found that Bengalis are quite intellectual and have collected many laurels for India. Rabindra Nath Tagore, Ishwar Chand VidyaSagar, PC Sorcar or Saurav Ganguly , each in different field have attributed their success to their state - West Bengal.
