Natalie, my cousin, was kinda guide for me who helped me out in knowing the state better. She was the one who forced me to explore another city that was much more appaling.

Though not such a known city from travel point of view but it definitely carries the imprint of the history of West Bengal. As each year pass by, Murshidabad carries the legacy of the past. Just 211 kms away from Kolkata, Murshidabad was definitely not on my planner. But you may say that it was my luck that I had to know more about the city and that what took me to this city.

Going through a history book, I came to know that the city was named after Nawab Murshid Quli Khan, a Brahmin who worked up the ladder in the Mughal army.

The few attractions in Murshidabad that I explored were Nimak Haram Deohri (Traitor's Gate), Hazarduari, Great Imambara, Bhavaniswar Temple . As I unearth the many faceted of these monument I came more closer to the culture and heritage of the city.

"You know this is the first time, I have ever visited any such place " Natalie said. And I looked back at her in amusement. Though Natalie was here for last 2 years but still she was unaware about this city. " Ya! it is ridiculous as I never knew about it but then see because of you I am to explore this place" sighed Natalie.

Initially it was difficult to explore the city as we didn't had any idea from where to start but then slowly and steadily we covered the whole city. The struggle in exploring the city made our trip a lot more exciting and enjoyable.
