" Honey! Today, I will take you to one of the most revered places of Kolkata" said Natalie, my cousin. " Hmm.. but can we go in the noon" I asked ." No! get ready now and we will leave within 1 hr" replied Natalie . Oh! how much I hated her at that time. "Okay! but tell me are you calling a cab this time or not! I am in no mood to travel through bus" I enquired. For last 5 days, I was travelling in bus and I felt quite sick each time I boarded it. Here the bus were quite different and also the people, some of them smelled like anything. But then Natalie again gave me no choice and we were travelling in bus filled with people. It took us about one and a half hour to reach this tourist spot which other wise we could have reached in half an hour. Constructed in 1809, the Kalighat temple is a sacred place to explore. According to legend, that a finger of the Sati, wife of Lord Shiva, fell here and hence this became a revered destination. Located South of Calcutta, Kalighat is one of the most visited temple. The temple had a unique calmness. The temple architecture was really very nice as it was intricately carved out. One can easily judge the beauty of this temple as I was easily able to see how much hard work has been put in. It was astounding to note that tourists from all color and creed visited temple just to pay a homage to one of the revered place. And being one of them added a lot more sanctity in my mind and heart. |
