Knowing about West Bengal festival was adding a lot more information about the state in my diary. Being a vibrant state, the people celebrate each and every fest with equal zest and fervor. Be it Durga Puja or Gangasagar mela, the people make it a point that they rejoice each festival.

I came to know about Durga Puja through a common friend, who actively participated in the fest. He was good enough to detail me the entire information about the fest. He lended me his travel experience which I could share with you. Natalie, my cousin, also helped me in collecting the information about the puja.

Through Natalie's friend, Suvam, I came to know about other fest - Ganga sagar and Rath yatra. I was, in fact, quite enticed to know that the fest involves people from all religion. Another interesting thing that I came to know was that when young girls take a dip into the holy Ganges.

Suvam also told me about another fest, Rath Yatra, sponsored by ISKCON in the month of July. In the monsoon season, Rath yatra offers the best of time to the people of West Bengal.
