The main purpose of my visit to Uttaranchal was Jim Corbet National park. It was just like a dream for me to see the tigers roaming in the internationally aclaimed park. Spanning over an area of 535 sq km the park is situated in the souther sector of Pauri Garhawal. The park houses animals like panther, sloth bear, sambhar, swmp deer and birds like Jungle fowl, khaleeh phesant, pae fowl and many other. Since, Uttaranchal is surrounded by greens, specific instructions was given to me on Eco tourism from various tour operators. There were brochures that listed some points to maintain the purity of the state. As I went through a brochure, there were certains points that were highlighted: » Not to use polythene or polybags as they are unhealthy for the environment. » Carry all the non biodegradable empty bottles and tins and throw them in municipal dustbin, so that they could be disposed off properly. » Avoid using detergents, as they are pollutants, in streams and springs. As we were driving through the criss cross roads of Uttaranchal, I saw sign boards that restricted the use of Radios and Tape recorders in high volume. My local tour operator suggested me that I should not try to disturb the life of the local people and should respect the local tradition |
