Spiritual India
Uttaranchal is majorly known as a pilgrimage destination. Haridwar and Rishikesh are two spiritualistic cities of Uttaranchal.

The Spiritualism!!
When I entered the exotic land of Uttaranchal, two things that I heard the most were about Ganga, the holiest river in North India, and Jim Corbett. Since Jim Corbett was my dream and I wanted to cover it exclusively, I decided to cover the spirituality of Ganga. As I discussed Ganga with my guide Pinku, he told me that I can actually experience the magnificence of Ganga on the banks of two spiritualistic cities of Uttaranchal - Haridwar and Rishikesh.

So the very next day I popped in Haridwar, that lies quietly in the foothills of Himalayas. In order, to keep my baggage, I had to resort Classic residency hotel, that had 44 luxurious room. Apart from luxurious hotel, the city also endorsed small dharmsala. A dharmsala is a resort that is under trustees, the facilities in them depend upon the financial potion of the trustee. But it is advisable that one should go for hotels since they are well maintained and the service are prompt.

For me the city appeared to be new, as I haven't seen such a crowded places in my whole life. The streets were narrow and almost had every vehicle on it ranging from tonga...to cycle....to rickshaw ( a three wheeler ).......motorbikes. But after all this, people over there were quiet contended and satisfied with their life. After relaxing a bit, in the evening I came out to stroll along the Ganga river. As soon as I sat on Rickshaw, the driver said “ Sir...Har ki Pauri...poupluer”in his broken English that I could make out. “O.K” I said.

The Sacred bath!!
While moving towards the sacred place, my guide told me that Har- Ki- Pauri was constructed as a sacred gath (bathing place) in the memory of his brother Bhatrihari, who is believed to come to Haridwar to meditate on the banks. What I especially liked about the ghat, was the puja, that is held every evening. In the evening golden diyas with flower are devoted to Ganga, as it is considered auspicious. I can never forget that scene when entire Ganga in Har-Ki- Pauri was covered with golden hue with flowers.

I also went to pay homage to Mansa Devi perched at the top of Bilwa Parbat. The rope way with brightly colored cable cars took me to the sacred realm. I found that entire city was quiet religious and many big and small temples dotted in the city.

Well, as a part of homage and with eagerness to explore, I visited Chandi Devi temple, Maya Devi temple, Daksha Mahadev temple. I also visited the Rajaji National park, another park famous after Corbett.

Move on!!!
After satisfying my inquisitiveness about Haridwar, I delve into Rishikesh another pilgrimage site. It took me less then 1 hr to reach the exotic land of Rishkesh. Another pilgrimage site close to Haridwar. Here I resorted to Hotel Ganga view that offered me an air conditioned room and a view of the Ganga.

After resting a while, I called my guide Pinku, who was in the nearby Dharmsala. The first place I ventured to was Laxman Jhula, a swinging and swaying rope way fortified with steel ropes.

Then I ventured to Triveni Ghat, on the banks of river Ganga. My escort informed me that this gath is famous for the confluence of three river, Ganga, Yamuna and Saraswati.

Apart from Gita Bhawan, Swarg Ashram, Neelkanth Temple, I went to one place that appeared like another heaven to me ---The Ananda health Resort. Well, I just went there for a mere visit but the tranquility there force me bring my baggage to this part of Rishikesh to attain sanctuary of mind and body.
