I knew that India is one abode where I could find unlimited amount of adventure. Since, this place has the Himalayan chain that endorses the worlds highest peak. Especially Uttaranchal in India boost innumerable treks. So, I made up mind, and enrolled my self to the tour package that exclusively covered the treks of the Garhwal as well as Kumaon. The tour operator informed me that the best months to explore the natural treks in Garhwal is from May to October. He also detailed me about the various region in Garhwal that could be trekked.- Harkidun, Ton valleys and Ruinsara Tal, Dodi- Tal- Darwa top- Yamnotri, Khatling Glacier region, valley of flower. Walking on the Untrodden Path! So, I first trekked the Harkidun region that is known for its profusion of flowers. Its meadows linked with two routes to ruinsara tal on the edge of the tons glaciers. My guide, told me that in this region, the pandav brothers have ascended the majestic Swargarohini peak on their last leg to Indralok. The next region I trekked was the Khatling Glacier region. It took me 2-3 trek days to come to the inner recesses of the Bhilangna river. This river rises at the snout of the Khatling glacier and the trails joins with Sahasratal, Masurtal and Vasukital. This was a fabulous trek that offered panoramic view of the Garhwal peaks. I had quite a bitter experience while trekking the Roop Kund region in Uttaranchal. As I was already tired this trek took another 10-12 days of my schedule. I was horrified to know that this trek had human bones, entrapped, dating back to 14 century. Well, trekking in Valley of flowers was something that was too romantic.. the cold weather and the exotic flora.... It was something that I had never experienced before. The Other Part! The Kumaon region of Uttaranchal also boost number of treks. The ideal time of trekking this region is from May to October. The major trekking routes in this region are Pindari Glacier, Kumaon- Garhwal High Altitude link, The Gori Glacier. Well, I trekked the Pindari Glacier, the best known trekking route in Kumaon. |
