Pilgrimages in Uttar pradesh
I was quite surprised to see that Uttar Pradesh has some of the popular pilgrimage centers of India where every year many pilgrims gather in order to fulfill their religious desires.

Honestly, Leena, my daughter, forced me to come this land otherwise I won't have planned my trip. She was quite interested in viewing the great Taj and I had to submit to her desire since she is my only child. But when I landed in this exotic land, I realized that it has many other dimensions attached to it. One being the Spiritual..... and some how I became interested in this facet of UP.

After the death of Leena's mother I took a turn from worldly pleasure and devoted much time in god and social service. And when I came to know about the enchanting pilgrimage destination of Uttar Pradesh, I became interested. In fact, they arose a craving to pay homage to all of them. Since we came for short tenure, the first place that I explored was probably Ayodhya. Lying close to Saryu river, Ayodhya is one the revered destination of Uttar Pradesh , famous for its temples. Ayodhya. 10 km from the district of Faizabad, Ayodhya encompasses many religion but still hold Hindus at the fore front. The famous tourist destination that I explored in Ayodhya were Nagaswarnath temple, Swarg Dwar, the Hanuman Garhi, Brahma Kund, Amawan temple.

The other pilgrimage destination that I included in my tour were Varanasi, Allahabad and Lucknow. Somehow I loved Varanasi, one of the oldest living cities of the world, situated on the north bank of Ganga and is located midway between Delhi and Calcutta. Varanasi is known as the religious and cultural capital of India. Its known history dates back to about 3500 hundred years, during which it has continuously been populated. However, Hindus believe that the city is eternal. Varanasi has also been known as Kashi and Benares, but its present name is restoration of an ancient name meaning the city between two rivers - the Varuna and Asi. For the pious Hindu the city has always had a special place.
