Chitrakoot added another excitement in our voyage to Uttar Pradesh.

From Allahabad, Leena , my daughter and I, headed towards another exotic destination of Uttar Pradesh - Chitrakoot. Just 125km from Allahabad, Chitrakoot offered us an array of tourist destination to explore.

Interestingly, we came to know about Chitrakoot while we were in Allahabad. Amazingly one of the foreign tourist reported us that Chitrakoot is one of the most ancient holy pilgrimage places of India.

Within 2 hr or so, we landed on the Chitrakoot railway station at Chitrakoot Dham, we were surrounded by number of guides, touts and brokers. But by now I was quiet prepared and I knew how to tackle them. I kept my luggage in the railway station safe guard and explored the city for a good hotel. Thankfully! the city boosted number of hotels. I cannot say that they were perfect or excellent but they fulfilled the minimum desires we had. Within an hour we resorted to one of the famous hotels in Chitrakoot.

Leena soon jotted down the plan, how we are going to cover the city in less time. She called the reception and asked for a guide who could have helped us in our exploration. The hotel authorities not only helped us in providing an authentic guide but also called a cab for us at reasonable price.

Soon three of us were out on our foray to explore one of the most divine place of India. On route, our guide told us that Chitrakoot holds a religious significance. Acoording to Indian belief, it is the place where Lord Ram ( Indian God) and her wife stayed for eleven years.

As a part of our religious sightseeing, we explored Ramgadh, Kamadgiri, Hanuman Dhara , Ram Ghat and Janki Kund. The other significant place that we covered during our stay were Bharat Koop, Gupt Godavari, Marpha.

Leena thoroughly enjoyed the Ram ghats lined on the banks of Madakani. They revealed a constantly moving and changing kaleidoscope of religious activity.
