I was quite enthralled by the Kanyakumari beach, though it was not so beautiful yet good enough to pass your time and come close to mother nature.

Beaches have always been a part of me .. I just adore them. When I came to know Tamil Nadu has so many beaches, I was quite enthralled. As a matter of fact, I explored Marina Beach, Rameshwaram Beach and Kanyakumari Beach. Though Marina Beach was not so enticing but Rameshwaram and Kanyakumari beach gave me ample opportunity to actually explore. Kanyakumari beach was the second beach that I explored during my Tamil Nadu tour. The beach is a beautiful sight with multi-coloured sand, but it does not really offer one the opportunity to sunbathe on soft golden sands, or to frolic in the waves either. I still remember that the beach was crowded with many people strolling on the silvery sands of beach. Unlike any foreign beach, the beaches in Tamil Nadu were not well maintained. If they are properly cleaned and kept, they are surely at par with beaches of our country. With long stretches of sands of many hues, the beach offers a welcome change. Since there were variety of shells available on sale, I bought many shells. I planned to give them as gifts to my loved ones. Since I was very keen to swim, my guide, Murlidharan cautioned me and asked me to avoid swimming. The main attraction of the beach was the Vivekananda Rock memorial, that was built in 1970. Few other tourist spot that I explored during my Kanyakumari beach tour were Gandhi memorial and Guganathaswamy temple. |
