I was quite astonished to know that Fairy queen is amongst the oldest locomotive steam train, and since then, I became inquisitive about the Fairy queen. The world's oldest steam locomotive Fairy Queen has resumed its once a week run from New Delhi Cantonment Station to Alwar. Another intresting fact that I came to know was that this 155 years old steam locomotive has been certified by Guinness Book of Records as the world's oldest working engine. It is normally kept in the National Rail Museum but for winter, it is pulled out to take tourists to Sariska Wild Life Sanctuary. "Tom, The fairy queen is the oldest working broad gauge steam locomotive in the world and was built in the year 1855 by the British firm Kinston, Thompson & hewitson for the British firm east India railways." informed Ranvir. This train has a first class without AC chair car having 50 seats and a pantry car for on board catering. |
