Did I tell you that I covered the Sam Sand Dunes? Earlier I thought it was just like another desert, but when I actually visited the place, I came to understand the magic of the golden sands. Sam Sand Dunes, are situated just 42 km from Jaisalmer, is the closest point to witness the total sandy desert. Oh! I saw hundreds of lizards while cruising on camel in the Thar desert and believe me! all differed in shape and size. It has a truly magnificent strech of sweeping dunes, with little or no vegetation. As I opted for an evening safari, I got the chance to actually stay at night and explore the land of sands. Our tour operator arranged folk dance by the tribal group ...aha what a night it was.... I think the dance was kabeliya as I also rocked the sand with my unique dance ..that was neither Rajasthani nor Western. It offers the opportunity to explore the area in authentic and leisurely fashion, with entertainment by folk performers, visits to villages, and chatter from colourful guides thrown in. Probably, I can never forget my days in Rajasthan--the land of golden sands. |
