Pushkar Camel Fair
The land of the only Brahma temple on the planet celebrates its virtue by camel fair and infuses festivity in the sky of devotion

You can say it was merely my luck, that I visited Rajasthan during the month of November. This is the time when the entire state rejoices. And the reason is off - course Pushkar fair. And I literally consider myslef luck that I was able to become a part of this fest which made my tour to Rajasthan, an experience.

Since I was quite inquisitive to know more about Pushkar and the fest, I went through different web sites that enhanced my knowledge. While searching net, I found a site on Pushkar fair, that detailed me about the city and the fair as well. After going through it, I just couldn't resist myself and booked my tour. .

With in a day or two, I was contacted by a tour officer working at Limra Voyages, the travel company exclusively dealing in Pushkar fair. He detailed me about what all I will be covering and how beneficial it will be if I opted them as my travel agent . " Worth! " I thought. And without wasting time, I just enrolled myself.

Everything was scheduled on time and significantly, I observed all the events that burned the land. Be it Ghoomar dance or puppet show, I was a part of each and every thing. It was a complete experience as it gave me a chance to have a minute look at Rajasthan culture. Pushkar fest is also known as the cattle fair. There were number of cattle owners that landed in Pushkar to sell their cattle's at a best price they could. I was easily able to see the culture of Rajasthan in the form of folk music and dance.

One interesting that I did was to take a dip in Pushkar Lake. According to local belief, this is considered auspicious and holds a lot of religious significance. I also saw some nude people with unwashed body, and instantly asked, “My god! who are they and why ain't they dressed up”. “ Don't ! they are Sadhus and are respected as they don't involve in worldly pleasures and seek their life to find God” said the guide provided to me, by Limra Voyages, the travel company.

"Hey! my friend was thinking to come to Rajasthan in 2005. Can you just tell me when is the next fest falling?" The guide was good enough, he informed me that Pushkar fest 2005 will be celebrated between 8th - 15th November. " It seems you have good knowledge !" I praised. We continued talking and surveyed the entire fair. The conversation was quite healthy making me know a lot many things about the land. I had no idea how time vanished and I was back in my resort filled with Pushkar memories that still captures my mind and soul.
