It is extremely difficult to plan sightseeing in Rajasthan since there are many intresting monuments to look around. Since I covered all the cities in my tour, I happened to explore all the exotic monuments located in those cities. Sightseeing! Jaipur was the first city I explored and I was quite impressed by the monument the city endorsed. The first monument that I visited was the Amber fort .It took me around 20 minutes to reach Amber fort from Jaipur as it is just 11 km from the city. I took an elephant ride to reach the exotic fort. The masterpiece depicted a typical blend of Rajput and Mughal architecture. I was welcomed by the Ganesh pol, an impressive gateway, painted with the images of elephant headed god. Then, We, my guide and I took an auto-rickshaw to Hawa Mahal. Well, I was quite impressed the structural monument as it consisted around 900 screen windows overlooking the street below. Then my guide, Ranvir took me the City Palace. Ranvir told me that the palace was built by Maharajah Jai Singh II . I was astonished by the series of courtyard that divided the complex. The very look at the several palatial structure like Chandra Mahal, Mubarak Mahal, Badal Mahal left me spell bound. I was special impressed by the well kept City palace museum that showcased around 2000 weapons that dated back to 1580. Admiration!! I specially admired the City Palace, in Udaipur. My escort, Ranvir informed me this palace was built by Maharajah Udai Singh of the Sisodia Rajput clan. I was able to make it out that architecture was influenced by the medieval European and Chinese architecture. Wow! had I been so lucky to stay in a place like thisI exclaimed after seeing its exquisite interiors. The interior were marvelously done by using white marbles, mirror work, frescoes and wall paintings. Well apart from these, there are many small and big monuments scattered in the royal state and are worth seeing. Monuments of Rajasthan :- Lake Palace, City Palace - Udaipur, Jaisalmer Fort, Lalgarh Palace, Mehrangarh Fort, Umaid Bhawan Palace, Ajmer Sharif |
