Apart from the various tour operator that work in India, the country also endorses special trains that offer lucarative packages. Although the fare of these trains is phenomenaly high but the facilities and ambience they provide are worth it. The three royal trains that cover Rajasthan are The Palace on Wheels, the Royal Orient and the Fairy Queen. Luxuries! Since I heared a lot about these trains, I tried to collect information about them by going through net and travel books. My guide, Ranvir also helped me in detailing them. Ranvir told me that the Palace on Wheel has 14 coaches named after former Rajput states. It has 14 fully air conditioned rooms equipped with world class ameneties to enhance the pleasure. As I was going through one of the brochures, I came to know about the Fairy queen. It was astonishing for me to know that this train is mentioned in Guinness book of records. The train starts from Delhi and ends at Alwar. Built in 1855, this is non ac, first class train with 50 seats. Another important train that covers Rajasthan is the Royal orient that starts fom Delhi Cant and covers cities like Jaipur, Chittaurgarh, Udaipur and Sasan. The package is for 8 days and the reporting time is 14.00 hrs. It involved packages like Special honeymoon package, Special weekend package, Special Corporate Package. A trip! One of my friends, Keith, who came on a short holiday trip took the Fairy queen that offers a package for 2 days. He escorted the trains from Delhi Cantt. The train covered areas like Sariska and Alwar and it costed him around Rs 10000/- , including the stay in the Sariska Palace. Since I was not a part of their tour package, I was not allowed to board any of the train. By going through the information I collected, I was able to understand the magic of these trains. |
