The Wildness Rhymes with the Music of the Golden Past!
Since I have heard a lot about desert safari's in Rajasthan, I could not restrain myself when I got the opportunity to participate in one of them. Initially, I thought that these safari's are merely a journey into the desert, it never came into my mind that they are much more than that.

My Safari!
Out the various option, I opted for camel safari, one of the best way to cover Thar desert. The other safari were elephant safari, jeep safari, horse safari. None of these safari were arduous as the organizers ensured that all facilities were provided, from entertainment to fine dining.

Well, only two people were allowed to sit on one camel, and as I had no partner to accompany me, I was riding the camel alone with Raikas, the Camel keeper.

Since the sun gets very hot in the desert, my safari started in the morning. Believe me! I was spell bound by the landscape and the miles that had nothing but sand. The most interesting part was that from this aridness, unexpected group of women appeared and disappeared in their colorful clothes, some how I felt they were going nowhere. As the safari progressed, we crossed many small and big villages.

As each moment passed by, I actually felt the rising excitement in our group. There was excitement for almost everything from setting camp at a new spot in the lonely wilderness of Thar, of coming in proximity of village life, enjoying splendid camp meals....

Safari Circuit!
Prior to my safari, I was informed about the best desert region for camel safari and that included Shekhawati belt, Bikaner, Jaisalmer, Jodhpur and around Pushkar. And I opted for the Shekawati belt.

Today I can say that if anybody is visiting Rajasthan, one must try these safari's to experience the magic of golden sands.
