Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary
One of the well maintained park, Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary boast a variety of wildlife and avifuana.

Conserving Fauna!
Since I decided to cover all the three major wildlife sanctuary in one go, my next destination after Ranthambore, was Bharatpur Wildlife Sanctuary.

It took me around two and half hours to reach Bharatpur from Ranthambore. I was escorted by my guide, Ranvir. On the way, he told me that this national park is one of the finest bird park in the world and boost around 300 species of birds.

“Keolado Ghana Sanctuary!! but we were supposed to go to Bharatpur Bird Sanctuary.” astonishingly I asked. “ It's the other name for Bharatpur Bird sanctuary” replied my guide.

As I entered the sanctuary, all I could see and hear, was the green lush trees and the echoes of numerous birds inhabiting the wild forest.

“ Once it was a shooting preserve of the royal family of Bharatpur” informed Ranvir.

He also told me that the place is famous for its migratory birds, journeying to the park in the winters from distances as far as Siberia. The most popular amongst them are the Siberian cranes. Since motorized vehicles are not encouraged in the sanctuary, we took a bicycle to navigate the narrow paths in between the artificially created lake.

Resorts!!
Well, since that day I had to cover Sariska Tiger reserve as well, I dropped the idea of staying in the sanctuary. Although the National park endorses tow forest lodges , The forest Lodge( ITDC), the Saras Tourist bungalow (RTDC) and Shanti Kutir.
Covering an area of around 22 sq km, the National Park boost birds like grey heron, purple heron, large egret, Indian shag and many more.

We, my guide and I, also visited the Lohagarh palace, Bharatpur Government Museum, Bharatpur Palace and Deeg palace. I was astonished by the glimpse of the royal grandeur of Bharatpur that the museum boosted.

Since I visited the place in November, I was able to hear a virtual orchestra of birds. The best time to visit the National Park is from October to Feburary, and some how I was quite pleased with my decision.

“ Hey look at that Dam” I exclaimed. “ Ya that Anjan dam constructed in 1760 to protect Bharatpur from constant floods” said Ranvir. My guide aquainted me that Bharatpur National park is listed in World Heritage Site, and was declared a National Park in 1982.

As I decided earlier that I would not halt in Bharatpur, but my plan failed in front of the mystical beauty that inhabits the sanctuary and I had to stay.
