Sikh Pilgrimage in India
I consider myself lucky to actually explore the Sikh pilgrimage in India. And It was after exploring these that I realized that the Sikh pilgrimage in India involves both the spiritual and the world prayers.

Somehow after staying with Jaspreet, my NRI Sikh friend, I had developed a genuine curosity to know more about Sikhism and fortunately, I had Jaspreet father, Mandeep Singh, who told me about the history of sikhism. I was in Jaspreet house for around 10 days.

He told me that Sikhism was founded by Guru Nanak Dev Ji, some five hundred 500 years ago. Sikh is the Punjabi form of sanskrit, which means a learner or a disciple. There are many followers worldwide, following the teachings throughout Sikhism history."Puttar, the Gurus or our Gods taught us to live pure lives, with simple belongs and warm hearts." he told. Puttar is means a son of the sikh family.

Sikhism preachers share messages of devotion and remembrance of God at all times and truthful living. Guru Ji or the 1469-1539 AD , left an important message to the sikh community. He rejected custerism and believed that every religion can work together as one.

  • Guru Amar 1552-157
  • Guru Ram 1574-1581
  • Guru Arjan 1581-1606
  • Guru Har Gobind 1606-1644
  • Guru Har Rai 1644-1675
  • Guru Gobind Singh 1575-1708

Mandeep Singh, father of my NRI Sikh friend, had retired as Naval officer from the Indian government 10 years back and since then his wife, Manpreet kaur, was forcing him to cover the Sikh pilgrimages in India. I was quite amazed to know that in India, pilgrimage is considered a ritual and is especially done by old citizens. As I spoke to Jaspreet father, he narrated me the importance of these pilgrimages. In fact, he also told me that over the last few years the Sikh pilgrimage in India has gained momentum. " You know! there are approximately 25 major Sikh pilgrimage destination in India." After a prolong persuasion by his wife, the Naval officer decided to listen to her and called a tour operator that helped them to cover the following pilgrimages. He gave a layout plan that showed all the major Sikh destination in India.
