As I was in India for a bit of time, I covered few of the very important Hindu temples in my trip. No doubt, India is a land of diverse culture and caste but it is majorly occupied by the Hindus. And believe it or not! they are very religious by nature and I got to know all this when I explored the spiritual temples spread all over India. As Delhi was the first abode that I landed on, I first had to unveil the beauty of the Hindu temples in Delhi. The first one that I visited was the lotus temple. Also known as Bahai Temple and is one of the most beautiful architectural temple in India. In fact, my guide told me that it was built in the shape of a Lotus flower. It was completed in 1986 and one can enjoy its exquisite beauty even from a kilometer distance, at night. The next one that I visited was off course the Birla Mandir. This is one of the landmarks in the nations capital New Delhi. It was intresting for me to know that the temple was built in the 20th century by the Birla family of industrialists. It's modern concept and construction attracts several devotees and international tourists. The presiding deity here is Lakshmi Narain or the Vishnu, Indian god. One of my friend who visited Delhi have elaborately discussed about the Birla Mandir and ISKCON temple of Delhi. Down south, I covered the Tirupati Balaji Temple that was located in the Chittoor district in southern Andhra Pradesh. This is one of the most famous shrines in the country where an uninterrupted worship of the Lord has been carried out for over thirteen centuries. I was quite shocked to see that few of the Indian females bald themselves since there wishes got fulfilled. Such is the power of god... I also explored the Sri Meenakshi Sundareswara temple. I also got acquainted with the fact that a Pandyan king, Kulasekhara had built the gorgeous Meenakshi temple, around which he created a lotus shaped city. It has been a center of learning and pilgrimage since then. Then I also snapped the Konark temple in Konark, Jagannath temple in Puri, Somnath temple in Gujarat. Oh! yes how could I forget about the Khajuraho temples in Madhya Pradesh. Temples of Khajuraho holded my attention with their sculptural art, that was so beautiful and intricate, that none could dream of cloning it now. Perfect in execution and sublime in expressions these Khajuraho temples are a dedication to the womanhood. The artist's creative instincts have beautifully captured various facets and moods of life in stone. Steven who visited Kerala have narrated his experince and glory of the two beautiful temples he visited in Kerala- Sabrimala and Guruvayoor. |
