Money Matters!
Since me and my colleagues were exploring India for the first time, some of my colleagues brought their families along with them. For that matter we had to find out the tariffs expressed by Palace on Wheels. As we landed in the tourist office we were asked to pay 20% of money then and rest 80% of before one month of departure. The train was endorsing Single occupancy, twin occupancy and triple occupancy that costed US$ 395. US$ 295 and US$ 240 respectively. This made our trip much more easier. The tourist officer cautioned us that fare might increase after September 2004 to 10-15%.

As it was a complete package, the tour fare included the cost of travel, all means, escorted sightseeing. Children between 5 to 12 are charged just 50% of the adult fare.

Palace on Wheel is not available from May to August as it undergoes annual maintenance.

The Economics!!
The tourist officer also showed us the cancellation charges. It was 5% of ticket value 60 days prior to the departure, 20% of ticket value 30-59 days prior to the departure. 50 % of ticket value, 15-29 days prior to departure and 100 % of the ticket value 14 days prior to departure. As one of my friend canceled his program, he was given half the amount deposited by him.
