My advent to Konark city was basically due to Sun Konark Temple. The city is counted amongst the best known pilgrimage destination of Orissa and my foray to the city was just to unveil the sanctity attached with it. Situated at the distance of 65 kms from Bhubhneshwara, Konark forms an integral destination of East India Golden Triangle Tour. The city got its name from Kona- Corner and Ark - Sun and is a visual masterpiece to spectacle.

Konark is well connected through air, rail and road. The nearest airport in Bhubhneshwar and the nearest rail head is at Konark or Puri ( 31 kms).

"Which hotel? " This is the first question that comes to any person mind when he or she is entering a new city. And my mind was had the similar question. Since travelling is my passion, I decided not to spend much on hotel accommodation. Though the city has number of hotels, ranging from 3 star to 5 star. I booked my room in a hotel in one of the budget hotels in Orissa.

Housing the sacred Konark Temple, the city itself becomes a well known tourist destination of Eastern India. Konark Sun Temple is is one of the well known UNESCO World Heritage Sites in India.

Konark city had number of attractions which included sites like Mayadevi Temple, Archeological Museum and Konark Beach. The best time to visit Konark is during the famous Konark dance festival. When tourists from all over the world throng to the city in order to capture the beauty of the city. The Konark Dance festival is held from February 19 to February 21.
