How can I forget my day in the most sacred place of Puri - the Jagannath Temple. The temple is one of the most explored temples of in Orissa. Being a heritage site, tourists from all over the world throng to this place. It is one of the most sacred pilgrimage spot in India and is counted amongst the four dhamas in India. The architecture of Jagannath Puri temple enticed me a lot. The temple was constructed by the Ananta Barma Chodaganaga Dec during12 th century A.D. The temple stands on an elevated platform and measures for about 10 acres and is located in the heart of the city. Jagannath Puri is located in the Eastern, Southern, Western and Northern midpoints of the Meghanand Prachir and it is called the Lions Gate, Horse Gate, Tiger Gate and the Elephant Gate respectively. Lord Jagannath Temple is a symbol of love and is worshipped in the temple along with Balabhadra, Subhadra, Sudarshan, Madhaba, Sridevi and Bhudevi. Jaganath Temple offers pure vegetarian spiritual food offered to Lord Jagannath. Fortunately, I also got an opportunity to get Prasada. The prasada available to us from 3 to 5 PM. The offering times are not exact and they often change from day to day. |
