One day, as I was speaking to Michalle, my friend in India, I came to know about the exotic city Nasik. You know! The famous Kumbh Mela is held here, every 12 years informed my friends. She also told me that it has some famous bathing grounds that are too enchanting as one get totally mesmerized by their mere glimpse. That night I kept on thinking about the city ..why??..I have no idea..probably it aroused a curoisty in me to know more about the exotic abode. Commuting to Nasik was not a problem as it endorse a Nasik airport that is 39 kms from the city and a railway station that is merely 44 kms from the city. In fact, the city is well connected with road. Despite of being a small city, Nasik boosted a number of hotels and resorts. Out of the number of choices, I opted for Taj Residency, that was 8kms from airport and 14 kms from railway station. Frankly, I was quite astound after exploring the city as I never thought that it will boost so many endearing tourist spots. For this I consulted the famous travel book on India, the Lonely Planet, and in accordance with that I planned my tour. The first toursit spot that I scrutinized was the Trimbakeshwar temple. The temple is situated 30 km from Nasik and contains one of the 12 Jyotirlings (Shiva Lings, Indian form of god) of India. I also explored the SundarNarayan temple of India, the temple that stands on the elevated west banks of Godavari.it had small carvings of Hanuman, Narayana and Indra on the walls. Then, I also examined the Kalaram mandir that was built in 1782 of Sardar Odhekar of Peshawa. It was shockking for me as the idol of Ram, Indian god, was in black. As I was along with my guide....Michalle obviously, I didn't had any problem in knowing about the exotic abode. While touring the place she again braught the topic of Kumbh mela in Nasik and this time I forced her to tell me everything about it. Michalle had been living in India for past 10 years and know each end every thing about India..you can say that she is more Indian now. She told me that Kumbh mela is the largest gathering in India as well as in the world. |
