I was quite enticed by the beauty of the Maharastra monuments. These monuments are quite spectacular in their own way.

The one thing that enticed me the most were the monuments of the Maharastra. Each monument was spectacular and is a major lure of the state. I clearly remember my foray to Gateway of India. Made in Indo-saracenic style, Gateway of India is a huge archway on the water's edge at Apollo Bounder. It is 26m high structure, complete with four turrets and intricate latticework carved into the yellow basalt stone. The central dome is 48 feet in diameter and 83 feet above ground at its highest point. I was quite enticed by its beauty, especially the architecture. I suppose that is why it is counted amongst the major landmarks in Bombay.

Then Bibi Qa Maqabara surprised me as it was critically a replica of Taj Mahal. Though a poor substitute of Taj Mahal, yet this monument beholds a great magnetism and is a major attraction in the eyes of travelers. Bibi

Well, another enticing monuments that I explored during my foray was Flora Fountains. It was erected by the Agri-Horticultural society of Western India out of a donation of Rs 20,000 by Cursetjee Fardoonjee Parekh. Flora fountain was indeed a great to explore. But believe me Michalle, my friend in Bombay, was a great guide and helped me in my discovery.

Frankly, the monuments in Maharastra enhanced my trip by many fold and now have become a great memoirs. As they come first in my mind when I think of Maharastra.
