After Lonavala, it was Khandala on our list. Being just 5 km from Lonavala, Khandala became our obvious choice. Situated on the same Shahydri range, Khandala is another picturesque hill resort that I covered during mu Maharastra exploration. Situated at a height of 625 mt in the Sahyadri hills, this hill resort of immense beauty is popular weekend gateway from the hectic life of Mumbai. Since it was so near to Lonavala, we made it a part of excursion tour from Lonavala. It took us around 5 hrs to fully satisfy our eyes and heart by closely observing the beauty that adorn this mountainous terrain. Although small, Khandala houses many exotic tourists spots that makes this resort breathtaking. Lonavala had many places of interest which included Shivaji Park, Duke's nose, Lohagad Darshan, Tiger's leap, Monkey hill and many other exotic tourist spots. We explored each one of them. Though the time was less yet we managed to cover all the destinations. The weather in Khandala is always pleasant all the year round yet it is recommended to explore Khandala from October to May. I remember the Monkey hill which I really liked. And then the Duke Lake added some more good moments in my memorabilia. By the time we finished , it was already night so we headed back to Lonavala. |
