It was Michalle idea to include the hill stations on our exploration. Michalle is my age old friend who has been residing in Mumbai for last 10 years. No doubt! it was great on her part but frankly I was not in favour of the thought. Since I am not an avid explorer, I never felt like exploring any other destination except Mumbai. But then she and her husband urged me and I had to agree. And see today I have no regrets. It would have been a mistake on my part if I would have not listened to them. The hill stations of Maharastra are just awesome with greenery sprawling all over the landscape. The bounteous beauty of these hill station have left a deep impact on my mind, heart and soul as I recall them as true treasure trove. As a matter of fact, the hill stations which I covered were Lonavala, Khandala, Mahabaleshwar, Igatpuri, Amboli. The first one on this list was Lonavala and then Khandala, since they both were quiet near to Mumbai. Lonavala & Khandala are two charming hill stations on the western slopes of the Sahyadris, 5 km apart, that straddle the Mumbai-Pune highway at an altitude of 625 m. Mahabaleswar was another hill station that made me feel as if I was exploring heaven. I know it may sound an exaggeration but truly away from the dust and din of the city, these hill station appeared more like a paradise. They are must on Maharastra itinerary and thankfully, I had them on mine. |
