Flora Fountain
I was quite enticed by the beauty of this fountain as it made me aware of the British architecture.

"Michalle! I am feeling nostalgic today! I feel Rena was here." I confessed. Rena is my girlfriend. Being a close friend I was quiet open to Michalle and used to share all my feelings and thoughts with her. She too was very understanding and captured all my emotions; with in no time she understood that I am desperately missing my girlfriend Rena.

" Hmmmmmmm, I am missing Vixi" said Michalle. " My first boy friend!" and I was stunned for a while and then we both laughed. Since Michalle was happily married for last 10 years , there was no chance for her to miss her first boyfriend. " Okay, Since we both are missing are friends, lets go out so that we can forget them for a while" said Michalle.

And I couldn't say no to her since even I was feeling bored, so I instantly accepted her proposal of exploring flora fountain. Also known as the Hautama Chowk, Flora Fountain speaks epics of the magnificent past. The fountain stands exactly at the point where the original Church Gate of Bombay Fort stood. Constructed in 1864, Flora Fountain was built as the memorial of Sir Henery Bartle Edward Frere. It was built out of Portland stone, and now is an important landmark of the area.

" Hey! You know, it was erected by the Agri-Horticultural society of Western India out of a donation of Rs 20,000 by Cursetjee Fardoonjee Parekh" informed Michalle. Though it was an interesting fact to know but at that time I was minutely observing the architectural beauty of the fountain.

" Where are you?" Michelle shook me. " Ya! What were you saying! You know, Rena would have loved it. She like watching architectural marvel!" I said. " And Vixi would have hated this that I am roaming with another guy who is not ready to come out from his girlfriend dreams" Michalle taunted. As I moved around I observed that people, many of them were tourist, visited flora fountain just in order to explore its beauty. Yes! it was a pleasure as I was exploring one of the most enticing tourist spot of Mumbai.

Michalle and I snapped few photographs of the fountain and then shopped around. All around the square sit Mumbai's infamous vendors selling just about everything under the blazing tropical sun - from cheap nylon saris to herbal remedies. I also purchased fes of the " Sasta Maal" ( Cheap products) from these shops.
