As a honeymoon trip, Riniee and John
chose Madhya Pradesh as an incredible destination to explore.
'Madhya Pradesh!" Where is this place? I am hearing it for the first time, I just hope you are taking the right decision to spend your honeymoon there" This was the common reaction from most of my friends who came to know that I have planned to spend my first honeymoon in some central state of India. " Hey! don't be a pessimistic, have you ever heard about Khajuraho Temples? ." I asked. "Basically, I am heading towards these temples and will later explore the other parts of Madhya Pradesh." I added. " Ya, we know about Khajuraho but then still! ", few of them were still skeptical about my decision. I then told them that these temples beautifies the landscape of Madhya Pradesh, a quaint oasis that lies in the heart of India and forming the central core of India. " Now! please don't tell this to Rinnee, as this will be a great surprise to her " I said. Rinnee is my wife and we were newly wed at that time. I came to know about Madhya Pradesh through a friend, George, who once visited the enticing land. He was the one who informed me that Madhya Pradesh has many exotic locales to explore. "You have wildlife, great heritage cities, amicable people. I am sure you are going to enjoy the trip" said George. Madhya Pradesh is a veritable haven for wildlife, pilgrimage tourists and business man." added George. In its lush forests, the tiger prowls and the spotted deer, the blue-bull and the gaur roam free. Panna National Park, Kanha National Park and Bandhavgarh National Park are few of the wildlife sanctuaries to look out. And as far cities are concerned, each one of them, be it Orccha, Gwalior or Bhopal, have some thing unique to offer. One thing for sure, that my honey moon trip is amongst the best trip I had till date. My Honeymoon Trip and More We got married on 14th February and it was our unanimous decision to explore Khajuraho temples. But I kept a little secret. Rinee was unaware that we were going to scutinize other parts of Madhya Pradesh as well on our honeymoon trip. She just had an idea that we would only visit Khajuraho temple. On 16 th Feb, we were on our way to India and landed in Indira Gandhi International Airport in Delhi. And from there we took another flight to Jabalpur Airport. If one doesnot feel like taking a flight, then also, there is no problem as Madhya Pradesh is well linked through rail and road. The nearest rail head is Pendra Road (42 km.) on the Katni - Bilaspur section of the South-Eastern Railway. Amarkantak is connected by regular bus service with Shahdol, Umaria, Jabalpur, Rewa, Bilaspur, Anuppur and Pendra Road. We chose airways since it saves a lot of time and is quite comfortable than others. Khajuraho temples were first on our list of exploration, so we headed straight towards Khajuraho. Although a small city Khajuraho had many hotels but we chose Hotel Taj Chandela, a five star hotel in Khajuraho. After resting for a while, we were out for exploration. It took us 20 minutes to reach Khajuraho temples from our hotel. There is nothing in this world that could compare with the erotic images of Khajuraho. The sense of imagination have given form to human emotions in the form of spiritual and physical love. After scrutinizing these famous temples, I opened my secret to Rinnee and told her that we are going to extend our stay and explore some other fascinating dimensions of Madhya Pradesh. And my sweetheart readily agreed to it. As a matter of fact, after our romantic foray to Khajuraho, I decided to add some adventure and this I did by adding wildlife tour in our itinerary. Panna National park, Kanha National p[ark, Bandhavgarh national Park were few of the national park that we explored. Apart from wildlife, I travelled to many Madhya Pradesh cities. The cities that I explored included Ujjain, Indore, Sanchi, Chitrakoot, Mandu and many others. Within these cities, I was lucky to explore to some of the famous tourist spots like Udaigiri caves, Marble rocks, Lal Bagh Palace ,Bhimbetka caves. It took us exactly 3 weeks to fully explore Madhya Pradesh but then time does not matter as I still cherish my days that we, Rinnee and I, spent in Madhya Pradesh. |
