Well, Since I had to cover the exotic beauty of Ladakh for a television programme. I thought it would be an excellent idea to enroll myself to a trekking tour, that would provide dual advantage to me. By this, I not only enjoyed the adventure of trekking but also had some extra shots for my travel programme.

The land of the Last Shangrila has many trek routes. Amongst the popular are 10 days trek Lamayuru-Padum trek and Stok Khangri trek. It is believed that the best trekking seasons are from June to October. So, I opted for the famous Lamayuru-Padum trek. In fact, I was also provided with the option to arrange a special tour for myself according to my need (budget and time) from the tourist office at Leh and Ladakh. This was something that impressed me.

“Sir, should I enroll myself to jeep safari since I had to carry the cameras” asked my cameraman. “ No! carry handycam, we will be together” I ordered.

Through sources I came to know that the J&K Tourism Department maintains trekking equipment hire shops in its Srinagar, Leh and Kargil Offices. Imported items like tow-man tents, insulated ground sheets, sleeping bags, insulated jackets, trekking shoes and rucksacks are available at these sops at reasonable charges fixed by the Government.

Well, I enjoyed the fresh yogurt and some tsampa that I happened to procure through the villages. The beauty of the place was something I had never seen before, and I really enjoyed the trek that I was climbing

Since my tour was a guided one, I didn't had much problems in seeking the right trek. My guide also told me about the winter access to the Zanskar Valley that is along the frozen surface of the Zanskar river. This route, known as Chaddar, calls for elaborate arrangements, but it is perhaps the most exciting trek in the world.
