I came to Trivandrum (Somatheeram Beach resort), in order to experience the magic of Ayurveda. Little I knew that this city had much more than I ever imagined. Being the capital city of Kerala, the abode is surrounded by seven hills and endorse ancient and modern style of architecture. "Sir, it is also known as the Kashmir of the South " informed Murli. In fact, the sun-kissed sands, golden beaches and dominating emerald green of its palm trees, remains a very popular tourist destination for Indians and foreign Nationals. The area has a long shore line, with internationally renowned beaches, historic monuments, backwater stretches and a cultural heritage, thus making it a popular tourist destination.

I didn't had any problem in commuting to the city as it is a well linked city boosting an international airport - Trivandrum International Airport (TRV) and a railway station.

Then Murli and me, sat down and chalked out our sightseeing tour. The first tourist destination that we thronged to was the Sree Padmanabha Swamy Temple, The temple is located inside the East Fort. Murli told me that the temple is dedicated to Lord Vishnu and is a blend of the Kerala and Dravidian styles of architecture. It is known for its mural paintings and stone carvings. One among the 108 sacred Vishnu temples in India, the presiding deity in here is Lord Vishnu reclining on Anantha the Serpent.

And then I also explored the Napier Museum that boosted an Indo-Saracenic structure. The museum dates back to the 19 century boasts of a "natural " air conditioning system, houses a rare collection of archaeological and historical artifacts, bronze idols, ancient ornaments, a temple chariot and ivory carvings.

Then I scrutinized the Chitra art gallery .This art gallery display select paintings of Raja Ravi Varma, Svetlova and Nicholas Roerich and exquisite works from the Rajput, Mughal and Tanjore schools of art in India. The collection also includes paintings from China, Japan, Tibet and Bal. Trivandrum was one abode in Kerala where I found number of tourist destination. The other tourist spots that I visited were Kovalam Beach, Varkala beach and Veli lake.
