My visit to Thekkady was quiet planned as I had to cover the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary in my tour to Kerala. When I actually visited Periyaar, I came to know that it is also known as Thekkady. Thekkady falls in the picturesque hill of district Iduki in Kerala. Somehow I found that Thekkady different from other cities. Particularly the smell that encompassed the city ..the city of spices. Thekkady has unique flora and fauna specially the birds that differentiates it from other sanctuaries across India. The cool crisp scented air of the western ghats reveals the unexplored beauty of the place. The most interesting thing that Thekady houses the Periyar Wildlife Sanctuary. This small town is situates 5 km from Kumilye and is well linked by bus from both Kerala and Tamil Nadu. |
