Breathtaking! Munnar was one place that I had a deep desire to explore. Munnar is a picturesque hill station situated at the confluence of the three rivers-Mudrapuzha, Nallathanni and Kundali. The rhythms of romance flow here like the ripples in pond enclosed by the bars of dreamy mountains.I felt as if they are asking me to behold the blue sky with the adoration to embrace nature. It was a sheer luck that I visited the hill station at a time when the hills were covered with a blue flower called Neelakurinji. Wow! What a beautiful valley of blue flowers I exclaimed in wonder. My guide, Murli, told me that these are the flowers that bloom after every 12 years. The hill station is well connected through air, road and water. I took the air route to Kochi which is about 130 kms from the exotic hills. By going through travel magazines and with the help of my guide, I came to know the various places which I had to cover in Munnar. Since my stay in Munnar was not for too long, I decided to cover the places as early as possible. The first place I popped in was Pothamedu, 6 kms from Munnar. Well the place has an exotic ambiance with rolling hills, lush mountain and stunning scenery. Murli and I took a long walk at the never ending hill. From their I was able to see the emerging foliar spectacle of tea, coffee and cardamom plantations. Near to Pothamedu was Devikulam, an pastoral hill station, that endorses an exotic flora and fauna. The feel here was different and I experienced a relative freshness and peace unlike the bustling cities. Mattupetty is indeed the ultimate place of exploration for a person with scientific aptitude and love for nature. It houses a highly specialized dairy farm-the Indo Swiss Livestock Project. It has around 100 varieties of high yielding cattle reared here.said Murli. Murli, my guide, took me to one of the very famous National park in Kerala-Eravikulam National Park. The park was situated in Devikulum Taluk . Over there I happened to see the famous Niligiri tahr, a rarest mountain goat. As the day was about to over we, My guide and I , decided to return to our respective resorts. On the way Murli told me about other tourist attraction that included Nyayamakad, Chithirapuram,Rajamala , Kundala and many more. As he narrated me about the places, I was actually able to feel how beautiful the hill station actually is. |
