Being the largest city of Kerala, it boosted many tourist destination that I explored with great interest.

" Do you have an idea that Kochi is the largest city in Kerala" said Mr Narayanan, father of my NRI friend. I was quite surprised to know it but then this information some how created an interest in me and I ventured out to explore one of the commercial and trading center of Kerala.

Reaching Cochin was not a problem as the city is well connected by air, road and rail. I think, Cochin fort was the first tourist destination that I explored. My guide Adeesh, told me that the fort was built by the Portuguese in 1503 A.D. and is at the entrance to the port. The spiderly Chinese nets at the entrance to the harbour, forming a silhoutte against the sky creates an ethereal picture.

I also explored the Bolgatty islands and the Santa Cruz church built in 16th century. Sir,do you want to see the famous church of Cochin" asked my guide and despite of being tired I couldn't say no. He told me that this church was built by Portuguese Circa in 1510.He also told me that it is one of the oldest church in India. Another fact that he told me that earlier this fort was built in wood and then later rebuilt in stone.
