In my visit to Kerala, I came to now that Alappuzha/Allppey beach is one of the most popular beaches of Kerela and is located in the district of Alappuzha. My guide, Murli, told me that the beach is located roughly 5 kms from the Alappuzha railway station. When I actually explored the beach, I found that it has Arabian Sea on the west and boost a large network of lakes, lagoons and several freshwater rivers intersections. "You know! It is also referred to as the Venice of the East by travelers from across the world" informed Murli. He also acquainted me that for the past few years, Allepey has grown importance as a backwater tourist centre and is now luring foreign tourists, who come here to enjoy the serene marine beauty of the state. My guide told me that the boat races, houseboat vacations, Marine Products and Coir Industry are some of the major attractions offered by Alappuzha. I also explored Vijaya beach that offered entertainment facility. And the old lighthouse was something that I still hold in my memory box. |
