This was the first place in Jammu and Kashmir, I landed on. Being the summer capital of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, it adorns the beautiful valley of Kashmir. As I searched through Net, I came to know that Srinagar is quite famous for its lakes and the charming rows of houseboats. As I went to shopping in Kashmir, it became clear that the state is rich in traditional Kashmiri handicrafts and dry fruits.

Situated in the western part of the state of Jammu and Kashmir, Srinagar lies in the northern region of India. It is located in the Kashmir valley. River Jhelum passes through Srinagar city. Srinagar is 876 km north of Delhi. It is rightly called the Pride of the Kashmir Valley .

The city is well connected by air, railway and Road. Srinagar have airport and the nearest railhead is at Jammu and Tawi.
