Shopping in Kashmir(Handicrafts)
Shopping in Kashmir is a perfect retreat as the markets endorse so many handicraft that are worth buying.

I had a good time shopping in Kashmir. The city is rich in handicraft and I had my bags full with all kinds of stuff that the exotic city could offer. In Kashmir , Srinagar was the major region where I shopped. Intrestingly, the city had many things for every kind of customers according to one's pocket.

Products in Paper!
Unbelievably the place was rich in Paper mache products that I founded almost in every region of Kashmir. They were in exotic colors like briight blue, orange, red. I bought many papier-mâché items ranging from jewellery boxes to mirror frames for my grirfriend, a range of intricately carved walnut wood furniture and accessories for my house, stone jewellery boxes, beautiful woollen shawls, crewel embroidery on furnishing material sold by the meter and more.

Oh yes! I bought three carpets from Kashmir and enhanced the beauty of my house. One thing I want to tell you about Kashmir carpets that they are lifetime investment. As I visited many shops in Kashmir, I found that the shoppers’ selection range from the simple to the most extraordinarily intricate patterns handed down the generations.

Concealing You!
I donot know how come my girlfriend, Leena, came to know about shawls in Kashmir. " Darling, please bring two-three Kashmir shawls from Kashmir" asked Leena in one of the telephonic conversation. And I gave her an affirmative answer. I baught two pure wool shawls called raffal that had different counts of wool - 40, 60, 80 etc. When it came to purchasing , all I did was an extensive research and my research came to a conclusion if you are seeking for pure pashmina shawls, then you have to shed more bucks compared to those which are available at cheap cost. These low priced shawls are mixed with cottons and cotton derivative.

This was an intresting fact that I came to know while shopping in Kashmir. As I explored the various shoping destination in Kashmir, I saw many shops selling cricket bats. On asking one of the shopkeeper, he said, " Kashmir is quite famous for it's cricket bats. Sir, our Indian cricket team prefer useing bats made in Kashmir"

After Benares in India, Kashmir Silk is quite famous. I came to know that Kashmir has extensive mulberry cultivation, and is used to make Saris
