Since I was on my world tour, India was the first place that I came to and through an Indian tourist, I came to know about the beauty of kashmir valley. But the only problem in exploring the valley of paradise was the terrorist , who have created thier fear in the minds of the people. Though I knew the consequences, I thought some day or the other one has to die, so why not fulfill my dreams in this life. So, without any apprehension I took a flight to Srinagar airport from Delhi. On my way to Kashmir, I went through one of the travel book I got acquainyed that the Mughals called Kashmir as the ultimate Paradise on Earth where they journeyed across the hot plains of India, to the valley's cool environs in summer. Here they laid, with great love and care, Srinagars many formal, waterfront gardens, now collectively known as the Mughal Gardens. Anecdotes of four and five centuries ago describe their love for these gardens, and the rivalries that centred around their ownership. The Kashmir valley set in the lap of the Himalayas towering to 18,000 feet with the sinuous Jhelum river cutting across in coils and curves forming the highway and the main source of sustenance. My visit to Kashmir valley was like a dream, the valley that is famous for its natural beauty. As I went through one of the brochures, I came to know that Kashmir valley is reffered to as Switzerland of the East. I visited one of the well-known sights in the city the Shankaracharya Temple. Across the city is another, much lower hill crowned by the Hari Parbat Fort, built by an Afghan governor of Kashmir in the 18th century. The low wall enclosing the upper part of the hill was constructed by Emperor Akbar. On the hill are several famous places of worship: the temple of goddess Sharika, the shrine of Muslim saint Makhdoorn Sahib, and the historic Sikh Gurudwara Chatti Padshahi. There is no doubt that I was mesmerized by the beautiful and picturesque Kashmir. I saw different kinds of agricultural products, fruit, vegetables, saffron, herbs, minerals, precious stones & finest kind of embroidery on clothes. |
