Beauty!!! this is what comes in my mind, when I think of houseboats of Kashmir. To tell you the truth, it was for the very first time ever, I had seen a houseboat. As I was too busy in my medical profession, I hardly got any time to actually explore the world. But now I really cherish my luck that I got aquainted with one of the most intresting thing ................ Houseboat. Frankly, if it was possible, I would have made a houseboat for me and live in that. Wow!, with blue water all around, cold breeze and misty mornings; who would like to live in concrete? .

Personaly, I feel that its is the best place for the honeymooners . The romantic setting of the lake in Kashmir together with the royal setting of the houseboat. The view from the houseboat keeps changing with the season too. There are awe aspiring mountains of the Pir Panjal. In winter the fun ameliorates when the snow covered surrounding take over. The waters of the lake are mesmerizing as it is.

These floating palaces is the greatest attraction of Kashmir.A houseboat usually has one living room, one dining room and two, three and four bed rooms with attached bath rooms with hot and cold running water. Most of the houseboats are traditionally luxurious as they cater to the needs of wealthy and foreign tourists and have all modern facilities. I even noticed extensive terraces with gardens on some houseboats. I really enjoyed the cool breeze in the shade of a small canopy in comfortable easy chairs, overlooking a panorama of natural miracle.
