Adventure Holidays in Kashmir
The adventure holiday in Kashmir is a complete retreat for bravehearts as well as for inquisitive travelers. Kashmir offer numerous activities that are worth trying.

To be honest, I can never forget my trip to this exotic land. The thrill, the adventure was something that I have never experienced before. Quite possibly that I was too engrossed in my work and did not had time to actually boost up my energy level. But this time, by the grace of god, I had time to try adventorous sports in Kashmir and rejuvenate myself.

Boy! for the first time ever in my life, I saw the mystical houseboats. Moving on the exotic Dal Lake with houseboats having every comfort that a deluxe hotel could offer, was something very idyllic. I had a unique experience, navigating on the lake, and viewing the breathtaking mountains and sparkling blue water around me.

Then my visit to Gulmarg, was next best thing that I did on my trip to Kashmir. I was quite impressed by its amazing sights, blessed with all the natural bounties, surrounded by towering peaks. It is a popular honeymoon destination and known for its immense natural beauty all over the world.

My guide, Usman told me that Gulmarg is a winter sports destination for many who love adventorers. I tried various adventurous sports there like trekking, Skiing, and of course Golf. Gulmarg has the highest green golf course in the world. I also joined the Ski School of Gulmarg that organizes ten day water skiing course on Dal Lakes and Nagin lakes in summer.Gulmarg is also the cheapest ski resort in the world to learn skiing. The latest Austrian and French equipment is available on hire. There is a ski school known as the Indian Institute of Skiing and Mountaineering, which conducts 10 day and 21 day short ski courses for beginners and advanced skiers. The season is mid-December to mid-April and the road is kept open to Gulmarg throughout the winter with the help of powerful German machines.

Pahalgam offered me exciting trekking opportunities and I still remember the best known trekking route... it was.. Pahalgam - Chandanwari- Sheshnag- Panchtarni- Amarnath Cave Temple- Sonamarg. Oh yes! I also tried horse Riding in Pahalgam. Ponies can be hired directly or through the Tourist Office. Tariff boards are displayed at all important locations.

Unbelievably Golf is quite dominant in Kashmir. Pahalgam Club has a 9-hole golf course, which can be used by tourists. Golf sets can be hired from the Tourist Office. On my rest days, I used to try Golf at Srinagar and Gulmarg. The course at Gulmarg is nothing like I have ever seen before. The ground is located at a very high altitude of 3730 metres above sea level. It was intresting for me to know that it is the highest green golf course anywhere in the world. The layout of the course too is strikingly different from most golf courses - hardly any stretch is flat - the land slopes and inclines along the complete area of the course which has a par of 72.
