The capital city of Rajasthan has unique mystery attached to it. The mystery can only open when you unveil the curtains and experience the magic by yourself.

I came to Rajasthan to know the more about the place where my NRI father was born 60 years ago. Being the Capital city of Rajasthna, it was the first place I popped in. Through net I came to know that Jaipur was founded in 1727 AD by one of the greatest rulers of the Kachhawaha clan, the astronomer king Sawai Jai Singh. The pink color was used at the time of making to create an impression of red sandstone buildings of Mughal cities - and repainted in 1876, during the visit of the Prince of Wales.

I really enjoyed my trip in Jaipur as it has many things to offer. The colorful bazaars and the monuments..... Aha! the mystery of Jaipur could only be unveiled by visiting the place. I explored the City Palace, Hawa Mahal, Amer fort and Jaigarh fort.

Apart from venturing out to places, I actually shopped a lot. Though I am not a keen shopper but the articles that the city kept on display really attracted me and forced me to spend my money.

Believe it or not! I traveled from US to know about the abode where my NRI father was born 60 years ago. I had a time of my life in Jaipur, as I came across the vast dimension of Rajasthan encompassed in its small capital city. As far the history of the city is concerned, Jaipur is one of India’s newer cities, founded in 1727, and was the creation of Jai Singh II, the Maharaja of the Kuchwaha Rajputs, who decided when Mogul power was on the decline to move from his outmoded hillside fortress at Amber to establish a new capital on the plains further south.

I found Jaipur to be a well connected city with Sanger airport at its service. I landed on Indira Gandhi International airport and then took a flight to Jaipur. I had no problem in finding a good resort for myself, the city boost many Heritage as well as deluxe hotels.I resorted to Man Singh hotel in Jaipur.

I was quite impressed by the heritage monuments like the Hawa Mahal, Amber Fort, City Palace, Jantar Mantar. I especially liked the City Palace. Situated in the centre of the Pink City of Jaipur, the palace is enclosed by high walls and set amidst fine gardens and courtyards. Since it was built by Jai Singh in 1728 it has been the principal residence for the Maharajas of Jaipur and the successive rulers have each added to it. The Palace was built during the glory days and the exhibits and interior have lost none of their splendour; the doors and gateways preserve their flamboyant decoration and royal retainers, clothed in turbans and full livery, still guard the principal halls and entrances.

Jaipur has a timeless appeal in its colorful bazaars that delights for its Rajasthani handlooms and trinkets. Beautifully laid out gardens and parks, attractive monuments and marvelous heritage hotels, once the residence of Maharajas, are worth admiration, not to mention the ambling camels and cheerful people in multi hued costumes that make Jaipur a tourist's paradise.
