India is a musical country endorsing number of tunes. I had great time knowing about them.

Dance and Music are two things that have always attracted my attention. During my stay in India, I tried to find out as many things about the Indian culture. I was quite mesmerized by the show of Bismillah Khan, a maestro of Indian music. In fact, this was something that forced me to know more about the Indian music. The music of India is one of the oldest unbroken musical traditions in the world. It was interesting for me to know that the origins of this system go back to the Vedas or the ancient scripts of the Hindus.

To get accurate information about Indian music, I contacted Dr. N.K. Tripathi of Sangeet Mahavishwavidalya (University of Indian Music). He told me that Indian music had two form Hindustani and Carnatic. Hindustani music is the music of North India, involving both Hindu and Muslim musicians.

Carnatic music is the music of South India, different in many of its terms and formal demands, although similar in overall outline. Dr Tripathi acquainted me with the fact the two music form share some common origins, but the details of these relationships can be contentious.

In fact I was quite impressed to see the number of musical instruments that India endorsed. Instruments like Bansuri, Nagaswaram, Shehnai (Air instruments) , Dholak and Tabla ( Drums ).

Even I have seen a demand of Indian music in our own country. Many music institution have emerged in our country that teached Indian classical music.
