K2 Mountain (Austin Godwin)
Nestled in the Karakoram range, K2 is a unique peak to explore with its diverse nature. In fact the 4 days I spent in exploring the paek were amongst the best days of my life.

Since I was fascinated to climb the second highest mountain peak in the world, K2., I enrolled myself to an exotic trekking of the mountain through Jeep Safari a K2 , if you didn't know already, is the second tallest peak in the world and at a height of more than 6000m, is also the tallest, free-standing mountain in the world. It is located at the Pak- China border in the mighty Karakoram region. After exploring the mountain, I can say that if you are thinking of climbing the tallest peak in each continent, this would be a good place to start.

The attendants who escorted us in the voyage told me that in local name K2 is known as the Chagori, which in Balti language means the King of mountains. The guide on our trek told us that the K2 was firstly climbed on July,31 1954 by Italian climbers team lead by Ardito Desio and accompanying him were Lino Lacedelli and Achille Compagnoni. A March 1987 measurement of K2 indicated that it might be higher than Everest, but later that year, Everest was re-measured by a similar method and found to indeed be 778 ft (237m) taller.

I also came to now that Karakorum's main range houses the Mt. Godwin-Austen, the second highest peak in the world. This mountain range also have the world's largest glaciers.

We spent around 4 days, expediting the second laregest peak of the world.Intialy we had planned a three days for our exploration. Since this was the first time I had reached these heights, I thought it wouldn't be a bad idea to spend an extra day up in the mountain.
