Well, one of friends, Alen, who escorted me in my adventure trip to the Himalayas, is quite religious by nature. In fact he believes in every form of god ..be it Allah, Christ or any other Indian Gods. He has equal respect and faith for all. As we explored the majestic Himalayas, we, my friends and I came to know that it is also a great pilgrimage destination. Since then my friends were after my life to visit different pilgrimage site. With Devotion! So, we tried to collect as much information and explore as many pilgrimage destination as we could. Our guide, Bahadur, told us about the spiritual abode-Kailash Mansarovar. He told us since centuries devotees from Asia have been coming to pay homage. He also told that one need to take prior confirmation from the authorities to visit this place. In fact I was astonished to know that since 1981, tours to this place is conducted under the Indian Ministry of External Affairs with co-operation of the Chinese government and Kumaon Mandal Vikas Nigam. He also aquainted us with the information about the popular Amarnath yatra. It is form of trekking to the Amarnath Caves that are considered to be the holiest naturally occurring shrines of Hindu faith. Extending up to 130 feet the Amarnath caves are high and shallow. In fact, Bahadur aquainted us that within the caves a linga of ice is formed, and that linga is considered auspicious. He also told us that at present the abode is not safe to visit, especially for the foreign tourist, due to Kashmiri militancy. The holiest!! The best part had been that we were able to go Vaishno Devi, an abode of Indian goddess, centered at Trikutta hills in the Jammu Kashmir state of the Northern India. The best time to visit this abode is from March to July. Well, we also saw many temples within the campus that is the Bhumika temple, Ban ganga temple, Charan paduka and Ardh Kumari. The other Pilgrimage destination lies in Leh-Ladak, Lahaul and Spiti and Gangtok. |
