Himalayan Mountain Ranges
A sweeter and a splendorous land, framed in the prodigality of nature showcases the beauty of the mountains covered with snow.

As I went through several books like Lonely Planet and surfed through net, I found that Himalayas are one of the youngest mountain ranges in the world. Well I also came to know that the principal mountain range dividing the Indian subcontinent from Nanga Parbat in the west stretches over 2000 km bordering Sikim and Bhutan in the east

The Array of Mountains!
Well, as we explored Himalayas, we happened to delve into the Pir Panjal Range that lies south of the main Himalayas at an average elevation of 5000 km. From the Gulmarg in the Northwest, it followed the southern rim of the Kashmir Valley to the Banihal Pass.

South to Pir Panjal lies the Dhaula Dar range and could be easily recognized by the snowcapped ridge behind the Dharamsala where it forms the divide between the Beas and Ravi valleys. Believe me! All three of us enjoyed this snowcapped mountain ranges as we played with the white balls made of snow.

We also explored the Sivalik hills that lies close to the Dhola Dar , at an elevation of 1,500 to 2,000 m. These ranges includes Jammu hills, Vaishno Devi and extend to Kangra and further east to the range of south of mandi

The other mountain ranges that I covered were Ladakh range, Zanskar Range. In fact, I crossed some of the major passes in these mountain ranges that included the Zoji La, the Baktol pass at the head way of the Warvan valley, Pin Parbati pass between Kullu valley and Spiti.
