As my main purpose to explore the natural grandeur was trekking. I eagerly waited for the day when our actual trek started. In fact, I was easily able to picturize scenes from books and films in my mind and I literally imagined myself in those faraway places. The Star Trek! Get up! I screamed at my friends as they both were sleeping till 8 am in the morning. Soon, all three of us got ready for the exciting day ahead. As we came outside our resort, we saw the mist had rolled in and the sun overhead lent it an ethereal hue as rays of light suddenly shot across. Since we had limited amount of time and money was not problem...........we hired a guide, who could help us in our trek. Well, I was astonished by the natural splendor that lies below the snow line at 1800 ft. What amazed me was the austere magnificence of the heights that brought the world of cascading waterfalls, lush green forests, flower bedecked meadow and variety of flora and fauna. All of us were nicely wrapped around with the woolen cloths. Thank god! We brought our Jackets! I said. Ya! Man its too cold here replied my friend Alen Well! The first thing that we did before deciding our trek was to collect Trekkers Guide Himachal Pradesh from the tourist office. The HPTD's Trekking guide lists 136 mountains over 5000 meter high. The Guide!! Well! Since we were exploring the place for the first time, we made arrangements for a guide that could actually help us in Trekking. As we moved on I could find variety of flora. Believe me! If one really wants to experience the magic of Himalayas, trekking is the best way. In fact it made me more comfortable with the Himalayas and its culture. The magnificent scenery dominated by soaring heights and icy mountain peaks were something to be watched. As I went through the HPTD Trekkers guide, I me to know that Himalayas these days offer more enjoyable treks that includes the Short Trek, difficult treks and long treks. Hey Alen, if you want to drink water, I have a Bisleri I requested when I saw Alen heading towards an open source to satisfy his thirst. It might be contaminated I added As we continued our trek, I found a small tea stall along the way. Wow I think it would be a best idea in this weather I announced. In fact I read somewhere that Tea and boiled water avoid dehydration especially in the mountainous region. Since we all were tired, we took an accommodation on our trek route that is easily available. Since Himalayan is a long mountainous range and covers may countries like India, Nepal, Bhutan and Tibet. There our different trek route that one cover in this ranges. Information about the treks could be gathered from different tourist office or local tour operator. The Himalayan range is one of the largest
mountain ranges in the World. And it provide an immense opportunity to
trek the different routes and passes. Trekking the routes!! Well I also got the opportunity to trek some of the very famous trek in the Himalayas And till date I still cherish the moment. Nanda devi is one of them and needs no introduction. Nanda Devi, whose name means Blessed Goddess, is the highest mountain in India. It is a great white double pyramid overlooking the sacred Garhwal region. The trans Himalayan valleys of Spiti were once difficult to gain access to. This was the one that was difficult to cover. My guide told me that This high pass was first crossed in August 1884 by Sir Louis Dane. Thank god! I had a god guide and proper map that helped me throughout my trekking The Dhauladhar range were the easiest to cover as it is comparatively small by Himalayan standard. But trekking in this region offered me some panoramic view of the beautiful sunsets. The route to the pass is very beautiful and exotic, through Eagle's Crest, Tiund, Llaka Glacier, Kuarsi and Machhetar Although I had no chance to visit the Amarnath trek but I came to know about it through my guide. The trek is so beautiful that it is a must for a mountain lovers. The cave of Amarnath lying at a height of 3952 mts and is a sacred pilgrimage for Indians. Some other treks that I covered and came to know about are Kinnaur: Across Charang Ghati Pass, Lord Curzon Trail/Kuari Pass Trek,Roopkund Trek,Guicha La. |
