Second Paradise! Well, the day I landed in India, I heard a lot about Bhutan nestled between the eastern slopes of Himalayas, surrounded by three countries-Tibet, India and China on either sides. Better known as the Land of the Thunder Dragon, Bhutan appeared to me as a second paradise on earth after India. I landed on Bhutan with a gang of two other adventurous friends to hike the Dagula Botanical Trek and to explore the cultural and the spiritual heritage of the Bhutan. Well I was impressed by the exotic land as it has high mountains, lush valleys, snow clad peaks, clear running springs and incredible wildlife. We, my friends and I, resorted to the Hotel Olathang, set among forest and flower paths. We decided to stay here for three nights during our hectic schedule. The enchanting decor of the resort depicting its cultural heritage made me feel that I was actually experiencing the royalty Unveiling the Beauty!! The next day I spent my day hiking in the mountains and taking innumerable photographs of the beautiful nature that adorns the mountains. We found that trekking was the best way to discover the Bhutanese culture, majestic mountains and unspoilt environment. I specially likes the greenery and to my amusement 60% of the Bhutan Himalayas are covered by the subtropical forests. As I had already trekked many Indian Himalayas, I personally found the trekking in Bhutan to be relatively easy. But somehow my friends were breathless due to the over 2500 elevation. What disturbed me was the sun. Despite of taking all the precaution, the heat was unbearable. So time to time we used to stand below the tree shade and admired the lushness of the green valley below. Well, somehow I found the magic of Bhutanese Himalayas quite different from that of any other Himalayas that I trekked. It has a magic that has to be experienced . |
