Kangra Valley
The Kangra valley is a gentle and picturesque place. It has a huge reservoir, which is man-made and is located on the ‘Beas River’.

I was quite fortunate that I visited Kangra Valley in Himachal Pradesh. But believe me ! my plans to visit this place was made all of sudden. One day when I was sitting in my resort in Dhramshala, I overheard the convesation that was held between the fellow tourist. They were discussing Kangra valley and there experiences in the valley with each other. And after hearing that, I felt as if I was missing something from trip. And from the very next moment, I started collecting information about the place. I searched net, raed travel books and spoke to those tourist, who had already visited the scenic Kangra valley.

Kangra is a picturesque valley that lies on the westernside of the Himalayas. Kangra is small town 17 km from Dharamshala. Sine I am an avid history reader, I found out that flourished under the patronage of Raja Sansar Chand Ji (1775-1823).

The enchanting abode is well connected through rail, road, and air. The nearest airport is Kangra Airport that is 7 km from the hill station.

Since I was new to the place, I contacted a local tour operator that created a plan according to my wish. Since, I don't like seeing the early morning, my tour started from 10 a.m. The first place I visited was Brajeshwari Devi Temple, The famous temple that every invader wanted to ransack, as told to me by the guide, Amit. He also told me that Mahmood of Ghazni, the famous muslim invader, carried off the fortune in gold, silver & jewels in 1009. The temple is situated in the bazaar, at the end of a labyrinth of alleys.

Then I thronged to Chintpuri, the famous pilgrimage centre of India. Significantly this place is 80km south of Dharamsala and 41km from Trilokpur. It has famous stone temples. I personaly feel place is worth seeing as it is beautiful evocative place.

My guide then took me to Jwalamukhi - "The Flaming Goddess", that lies 34km south of the Kangra valley. The temple is one of the most sacred sites in the Kangra valley. A golden spire, the legacy of wealthy devotee, tops it.

The other tourist destination in Kangra valley that I visited was Nagar Knot, and Varajsehwari Devi temple. Oh!! I forgot to mention the main attraction of Kangra- the toy train. Kangra toy train- linking Pathankot and Joginder Nagar gently meanders through a maze of hills and valleys, offering the travellers breathtaking views. I thoroughly enjoyed my trip on the Kangra toy train. It was a thrilling experience for me. As a matter of fact, I feel that it is an unmatched way to unveil the beauty of the Kangra Valley.
