Dharamsala
Dharamshala stands at the foot of Dhauladhar and has a magnificent view of snowy peaks, deodar and pine forests, tea gardens and beautiful hills.

When I was in Kullu, one of the tourist suggested me to visit Dharamshala, the head quarters of Dala Lama in India. As I searched through net about about the history of the city, I got acquainted with many other facts. Dharamshala came into being in 1849, when it was selected as a site to accommodate a native regiment that was being raised in the town.

The city is well connected as the nearest airport is at 13 km away at Goggla. The Railways station is at Kangra Mandir, 22 km from Dharamsala.

I didn't faced any problem in choosing the hotel. As it is one of the most visited place by foreign tourist, it boost several hotels. There HPTDC ( Himachal Pradesh Tourism Development Corporation) hotels like Dhauldhar, Bhagsu, Yatri Niwas.

I opted for Bhagsu and kept all my luggage there. After all a resort was needed to keep the luggage, coz I would have been a fool if I would have wasted my time in the resort.

The first place I delve into was the Bhagsunath temple, that is 11 km from Dharamshala.
“ Wow, this is a beautiful waterfall”I exclaimed when I saw that the place boosted a scenic waterfall. The place was crowded with all sorts of tourist and it is well utilized picnic spot.

As I was new the place, I contacted a cab diver who took me to the various places in Dharamshala. "Sir, are you Christian" The cab driver asked me in broken English . As I nodded, he said that he would take me to St. John's Church that was 8 km. from Dharamshala town. The church lies in the forest between Mcleod Ganj and Forsyth Ganj. The priest in the Church told me that it is a monument dedicated to Lord Elgin, one of the viceroys of India, who died at Chauntra. I was completely mesmerized by the region as the Church has lovely spotted glass windows and there is a Christian cemetery around it. It is ideally situated in the majestic 'Deodar' forest.

The other place I visited was Dharamkot, 14 km. from Dharamshala town. It is situated on the crest of a hill, this favorite picnic spot affords a panoramic view of the Kangra valley and the Dhauladhar ranges. One can reach Dharamkot by a simple trek from Bhagsu. The scenery from Dharamkot is simply breathtaking and you also meet the Gaddi folks.

He took me to Dal Lake that lies amidst hills and deodar trees and is 11 km. from were Dhramshala. It is a starting point for excursion and trekking and is located next to Tibetan children's village. It was beauty and I cannot express it's beauty in black and white words. And boating on dal Lake was like magic.... it imbibed a romantic feeling with in me and I spent atlest 1 hrs boating.

I also visited the Trilokpur, Musrur and Nurpur that are close to Dharamshala.
