Dalhousie
Dalhousie stands at the foot of the main spurs of the Dhauladhar range of Himalayas and another exotic hill station of Himachal Pradesh. It was a retreat for me to explore the finest hill station in Himachal Pradesh.

Himachal Pradesh offered me another hill station that was too fascinating for me to explore. Dalhousie stands at the foot of the main spurs of the Dhauladhar range of Himalayas. To my amusement, Dalhousie still retains much style that it used to have in British Raj.

I had no problem in coming, as it is a well accessed hill station through Rail , Air and Road. The nearest airport is in Gaggal, that is 140 km from Dalhousie.

I was quite impressed by the fact that Dalhousie was not short of hotels and resorts. I took Grand View hotel, out of the various option. After relaxing a bit, I couldn't stop myself and ventured out to unveil the beauty of the endearing hill station.

Fortunately, there was another foreign tourist in the same resort who wanted to explore the natural charisma of the ravishing hill station.” hi! I am John” he said, “ Hi! I am Benson”, I replied back. And soon we became good friends. “ Hey! We both can see the various tourist spots in Dalhousie together” John asked me. I gave an affirmative answer to this.

John had laptop with him that enabled me to reveal the history that the hilly region endorses. Dalhousie was named after the British Governor General. The British developed it in 1852 after they bought this land from the Raja of Chamba. By 1867, Dalhousie was a municipality and sanatorium.

We both took a sightseeing tour from a local operator and ventured out to explore the majestic hills. Since, Dalhousie was under the rule of Britishers, it endorses many churches. Some of the Churches that we visited were the St Andrews Church, St Francis Church at Subash Chock, St John Church at Gandhi Chowk.

We also visited, Panchpula, a beautiful spot, is barely 3 kms. from G.P.O. Panchpula stream is the main source of water supply to Dalhousie and Bahloon.

Since Subhash Baoli was just 1 km from G.P.O., we made our plan and hanged out in a charming natural spot. After talking to one of the literate localite over there we came to know that Neta ji Subhash Chander Bose, a leading Indian leaders of pre independence era of India, believed to have spent most of his days by the side of this water body, meditating amidst dense woods of Cedar and meeting his party workers.

The most exotic was the Bara Pathar that lies 4 km from hill station. The prime appeal of this spot is a fascinating little temple set in the midst of a dense forest. The other places that we snapped were Laxmi Narayan Temple, Shiv Kul and Kala top.
